Okay, that answers the letter of my question, but ducks its intent. Since it's a foreign concern (no surprises there), what's the intent behind putting up a website that trades in our personal information? Every complaint we've had about a silent number being listed has always been tracked down to the original source, which so far has always found the white pages at fault.

OK but if you are apparently using the White Pages (although not in my case) aren't you doing the same thing – infringing copyright the same as DTMS?

Apparently, they got the phone details by scanning the AU white pages using OCR scanning software. You have to get a "silent number" (why silent – its beyond me) which is not published in the white pages and nor is info given out by directory assistance.

That means a change of number for you and a monthly fee extra – effectively you pay for something that you dont get – your name in the white pages Well I have a silent number – it has been silent since I moved into the house I am in now (almost 12 years) and it was a fresh number (I am the only person to ever have it).

Must remember next time I get an annoying call to go and check it against their complaints register, who knows maybe viewing the site has ensured I will get a barrage of prank calls now. If Reverse Australia obtains actual knowledge that it has collected personal information about a child under the age of 13, that information will be immediately deleted from our database.

Because it does not collect such information, Reverse Australia has no such information to use or to disclose to Third Parties.

Doesn't look to me like it's any more or less information than a general phone book, so chances are if your listed in the phone book you may be listed here.

I didn't follow their facebook orders but to me it doesn't look like you can simply remove yourself although an email to them might get your name removed next time they do some maintenance.

That is really a rhetorical question because that part of it doesn't concern or affect me but I'm just saying. My parents in law number comes up which is silent and has been since phones were invented. We collect as many names as we can from various sources that are attached to addresses. The fact that I'm paying for a service to aide towards security and privacy only to have a site like this counteract that is disgusting.

Also, one of the names that comes up is my brother in law who hasn't lived at home for 6 years or so and was never associated with the home phone account in the first place and then there is also an unknown name which is ridiculous. When a record is searched and the most recent entry is for example 'Smith, A' we then check our other databases for any Smith's that have ever been associated with that address and show the initials we find. Surely this is some sort of breach of privacy laws?

Their terms and conditions tell you vaguely where they get their info so it's probably hard to stop if they don't offer a deletion service from their contact details.

Actually I don't know if you can really believe the site or not but the lists of numbers that people have complained about is interesting. Reverse Australia will never knowingly collect any personal information about children under the age of 13.

There is also the google map displaying my suburb and a note stating this: I can't find any button to see these "accurate details" though. or whatever it was get taken down some time back for something similar?
